Overview

The Kudremukha Trek is one of the most scenic and popular treks in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Named after its horse-face peak, it weaves through lush greenery and rolling hills in the Chikkamagaluru district. Altitude: 1,894 m; Trek distance: ~20-22 km round trip; Duration: 1 day (8-10 hours); Difficulty: Moderate; Best season: October to February.

Forest department registration and a booking ID are mandatory (permits are limited). Mullodi village near Kalasa is the common base, with homestays available; camping inside the national park is not allowed. Local guides are compulsory. Itinerary

Day 0 - Pickup Points & Timings

  • 7:30 PM - Karachi Bakery, Indiranagar
  • 7:45 PM - Domlur Skywalk, Domlur
  • 9:00 PM - Yeshwantpur Metro Station (towards Tumkur side)
  • 9:15 PM - People Tree Hospitals, Goraguntepalya

Day 1

  • Begin your trek by 7:00 AM after breakfast.
  • 22 km roundtrip to Kudremukh; lunch halfway up.
  • Enjoy summit views, return to base, relax, and dinner.

Day 2

  • 7:00 AM wake up; 8:00 AM breakfast; 9:00 AM check out.
  • Optional Somavathi waterfalls if time permits; 9:30 AM Samse Tea Estate.
  • 1:30 PM Belur Temple; 2:00 PM self-sponsored lunch; 6:00 PM coffee break.
  • 10:00 PM reach Bangalore.
